Lara Housez is a Ph.D. candidate in Musicology at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. With the support of a doctoral fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, she is writing her dissertation on Broadway composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Lara graduated from the University of Western Ontario, where she studied voice with Patrick Raftery and Jennifer Moir and sung in several choirs. She has performed with the Elora Festival Singers, Arcady Singers, Ottawa Bach Choir, and John Laing Singers. Now living in Dundas, Lara teaches students in her private voice studio, takes lessons from Holly Gwynne-Timothy and Janet Obermeyer, and performs regularly as a soloist at Saint Mary the Virgin Anglican Church in Hamilton and at other churches in the Golden Horseshoe.
